Paul Solbos Chief Executive Officer / Co-Founder

Paul envisioned a program dedicated to increasing survival while mitigating risk of injury both physical and mental. He served in the US Army, Federal Bureau of Prisons and currently as a Deputy Sheriff. While serving Paul obtained a degree in Criminal Justice. Paul’s life experiences exposed him to the need for additional training and support for the individual. Once Paul found Jiu Jitsu, he discovered the missing piece. His dedication to the community and the persons he serves alongside coined the C3BJJ concept.

Code 3 is the denotation of lights and sirens utilized while responding to a priority call, often one that has potential for loss of life or serious injury. This exigency paired with providing free or nearly free training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is Paul’s goal. Unlike other programs, C3BJJ seeks to be inclusive of all first responders. Making sure our Law Enforcement, Corrections, Firefighters, Paramedics, Trauma Doctors and Nurses have a place to train. Paul sees a community of persons coming together in the name of mental and physical wellbeing.

Seth Daniels

Seth Daniels is the visionary founder of Fight 2 Win, a leading organization in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and grappling community. A lifelong martial artist, Seth began his journey in judo at the age of three, earning multiple junior national titles and a high school national championship in 2000. Transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his mid-twenties, he earned his black belt under Amal Easton. In 2008, Seth founded Fight 2 Win, which quickly grew into a platform showcasing premier grappling talent. With Fight to Win Pro, Seth revolutionized the competitive Jiu-Jitsu scene, delivering professional-level events and high-quality production. His leadership and passion for martial arts make him an invaluable asset to Warriors Always Ready (WARinc).

Jay Wadsworth (Florida)

Jay Wadsworth is a seasoned professional in both law enforcement and martial arts. A retired officer with over 22 years of service, including 14 years in SWAT operations, Jay is a recognized expert in tactical training and defensive combatives. A 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a former professional MMA fighter, he co-founded Effective Fitness Combatives (EFCombatives), where he serves as the Director of Combatives. Jay’s programs emphasize scientifically backed fitness and combatives techniques to elevate defensive tactics for law enforcement professionals. His dedication to empowering first responders through martial arts and fitness aligns seamlessly with the mission of Warriors Always Ready (WARinc).

Jerry Hallert

(Nevada)is the owner and lead trainer at LEO Defense Systems, bringing a diverse professional background to his role. He began his career as a secondary education teacher after earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Ecology from the University of Nevada, Reno. In 2004, he transitioned to the private sector, managing and owning several restaurants. In 2008, Jerry entered the law enforcement profession, where his prior experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) provided unique insights into police use-of-force training and application. By 2009, he was appointed lead defensive tactics instructor for his department and currently serves as a police lieutenant overseeing a regional specialty unit. Jerry holds a 3rd-degree black belt in BJJ under world champion Marcos Torregrosa and has personally promoted over 100 police officers to the rank of blue belt or higher.

His extensive law enforcement experience includes roles such as Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, Undercover Combatives Instructor, and Use of Force Expert. Jerry has been recognized with several awards, including the Red Cross Law Enforcement Hero of the Year (2009) and a nomination for ILEETA Instructor of the Year. In the BJJ community, he is an IBJJF-certified multiple-time medalist at the black belt level and has competed in events like Fight to Win. As a co-founder of LEO Defense Systems and co-owner of Komainu Gym, Jerry brings a comprehensive understanding of various training modalities, significantly contributing to the mission of Warriors Always Ready (WARinc).

Christopher Sutherland Chief Program Director

Chris Sutherland is a passionate martial artist and dedicated public servant, serving as a coach for the CodeThree.org team. His journey into the world of Jiu Jitsu and mixed martial arts began in 2007 and quickly transitioned into a professional MMA career by 2009. Alongside his fight career, Chris became an EMT in the same year, reflecting his commitment to helping others.

In 2016, Chris joined the Placer County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer and advanced to the role of Deputy Sheriff in 2019. His experience in law enforcement includes roles such as WDI instructor, gang team member, jail training officer, and CIRT team member, highlighting his dedication to public safety and community service.

A brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Chris has cultivated a deep passion for the art, focusing on competition, teaching, and mentorship. He believes in the power of BJJ as a vital outlet for physical and mental wellness, and he actively encourages others to embrace the discipline. Through tailored programming for individuals and groups, Chris aims to foster resilience and empowerment among his students.

Rooted in the local community, Chris is not only a devoted coach but also a husband and father. His blend of martial arts expertise and public service commitment makes him a vital member of the CodeThree team, where he works tirelessly to support first responders and veterans on their paths to personal growth and well-being.

John Tannarome Business Development

John’s career in community service began 17 years ago as a Firefighter. He eventually parlayed that into a career as a Deputy Sheriff. John recognized a need for all first responders to have a way to mentally and physically decompress due to the taxing nature of being a public servant. While working patrol with Paul Solbos, he realized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was the best way to deal with the stressors that came with his career.

Since its C3BJJ’s inception, John has been working on the mats and behind the scenes in an attempt to make Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu available to all veterans and first responders. His vision is to build a strong community where all the members are supported and receive potentially lifesaving training.

Anthony Kuehn Coach

Anthony Kuehn, a dedicated member of the CodeThree team since its inception, has been a guiding force for many law enforcement officers, firefighters, and deputies both on and off the mats. As a Deputy Sheriff, Anthony serves as one of the head instructors for CodeThree, where he imparts his expertise in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a Black Belt and draws from more than a decade of grappling experience. His commitment to the well-being and growth of CodeThree members is evident in his role in developing training programs for both children and adults. Anthony’s passion for Jiu Jitsu and his integral role in mentoring and teaching make him a true warrior within the CodeThree community.
